Multi-Million-Dollar research initiative on digital finance

ISSER will on Tuesday, June 7, 2022 launch the Retail Financial Distribution Research (ReFinD) research initiative, a new multi-million dollar project focused on deepening digital financial inclusion and improving women’s access to financial services in low and middle-income countries.

The event will be held at the ISSER Conference Facility and feature the Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Dr Ernest Kwamina Addison as guest of honour, and stakeholders from the digital finance sector.

ISSER has hosted an inception workshop featuring early childhood education stakeholders in Ghana and Sierra Leone to launch the “Teacher Capacity Building for Play-based Early Learning in Ghana and Sierra Leone” project – a collaborative study aimed at enhancing the capacity of teachers to implement innovations in play-based learning at early childhood levels of education.

The 2022 edition of the ISSER Roadshow, organised jointly with the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Education, Winneba (UEW), attracted the participation of diverse communities providing an inclusive platform for discussing pressing development issues, while enabling knowledge sharing and learning.

The event was held on 11 May 2022 at the Jophus Anamuah-Mensah Conference Centre of UEW, chaired by UEW Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Andy Birikorang, who represented the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Mawutor Avoke.

ISSER will take a trip next week to Winneba for the 2022 edition of the ISSER roadshow. The event will be held on 11 May at the Jophus Anamuah-Mensah Conference Centre (JAM), at the University of Education, Winneba (UEW), in partnership with the Faculty of Social Sciences Education.

The event will provide a platform to discuss the findings of recent publications by the ISSER, namely the State of the Ghanaian Economy Report (SGER) 2020 and the Ghana Social Development Outlook (GSDO) 2020, alongside recent developments in the Ghanaian Economy.

ISSER has commissioned a 10-million Ghana Cedi multi-purpose building to help meet the Institute’s need for additional spaces and improved facilities and to support its continued growth and performance.

The building, known as the ISSER Office Complex and Digital Centre, comprises an office complex, a digital centre or data hub, an ultra-modern library complex, seminar rooms, and a gymnasium.

To analyse the dynamics of agricultural commercialisation and agrarian change across East, West and Southern Africa, an e-dialogue was convened by the Agricultural Policy Research Programme (APRA) in partnership with the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN) and Foresight4Food (F4F) on 20 January 2022. The event began with participants engaging in three parallel regional presentations and discussions for East, West and Southern Africa, and culminated in a continental-level panel involving expert commentators and audience questions.

The Institute of Statistical Social and Economic Research (ISSER), University of Ghana is set to commission a new multi-purpose building. Known as the ISSER Office Complex and Digital Centre, the building comprises eight offices with a kitchen and a gym,  a 100-seater computer laboratory or data centre, three conference breakout rooms, and an ultra-modern library complex.
