ISSER Inclusive Finance Development Series launched with call to deepen academia-  industry collaboration

The ISSER Inclusive Finance Development Series (IIFDS), an initiative under the Institute’s agenda to position African research institutions at the forefront of advancing evidence for the development of inclusive finance, was launched by Prof. Ernest Aryeetey, a former Vice Chancellor of the University of Ghana and General Secretary of African Research Universities Alliance (ARUA) on May 4, 2023.

The Institute of Statistical, Social and Economic Research (ISSER) and the World Bank will on Thursday, May 4, 2023, host a public engagement on the 2021 Ghana Findex Data. The event will be the maiden edition of the ISSER Inclusive Finance Development Series (IIFDS), an initiative under ISSER’s agenda to position African research institutions at the forefront of advancing evidence for the development of inclusive finance.

Changes in the Milling Segment of the Rice Value Chain in Ghana

This ISSER policy brief highlights technological and organisational transformations occurring in the rice milling segment in Ghana. It is based on surveys conducted with rice millers in the greater Accra and Volta regions in 2022. The results demonstrate that technological upgrading is occurring, particularly after 2010, and that there is increasing vertical coordination among the value chain actors.

Director, Prof. Peter Quartey has described as fruitful ISSER’s participation in CSAE 2023, a three-day international conference held at Oxford University, United Kingdom, organised by the Centre for the Study of African Economies (CSAE).

The ISSER team, led by Prof. Quartey and including Dr. Richmond Atta-Ankomah, Research Fellow, and Ms. Vicentia Quartey, Communications and Publications Officer, joined over 300 researchers from around the globe that gathered for the three-day conference from March 19 – 21.
