I warmly welcome you to the website of the Institute of Statistical, Social and Economic Research (ISSER) where `the sun never sets’. ISSER is one of the three Institutes within the College of Humanities. Our Strategic Objectives which have been carefully derived from the University’s Strategic Plan as well as the College of Humanities Strategic Priorities includes: (i) Evaluative Thinking; (ii) Research; (iii) Training; (iv) Stakeholders; (v) Dissemination and Advocacy; (vi) Processes; (vii) People; and (viii) Financial Management. At ISSER, we provide cutting-edge research that informs policy as well as provide teaching and learning using modern methods in a congenial environment.

ISSER is one of the leading think tanks in Africa and has over 20 world class researchers who undertake policy relevant research on socio-economic development. In addition, our Monitoring, Learning and Evaluation unit has well equipped laboratory and staff for collecting, storing and processing data in real time. We have collaborated with many key institutions across the globe to undertake nationwide surveys to collect quality data for research and advocacy. We also undertake interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary research across Africa and ready to partner with boundary partners to apply for grants and consultancies. We are indeed ready to do business with partners to enhance our mutual benefit. ISSER has robust accounting systems based on the University of Ghana’s financial management systems and therefore gives assurance to our collaborators that we provide value for money and remain truly transparent.

Our achievements are unparalleled; ISSER’s two annual flagship publications, namely, the State of Ghanaian Economy and the Social Development Outlook reports have been widely cited across the globe and its quality and readership is unmatched in Ghana. Our graduate students are in key positions in academia, public as well as the private sector. Our MA and PhD Development Studies products especially have been very attractive to NGOs and the development wings of key Country Missions and multilateral institutions. We also organize short courses tailor-made to the needs of our participants.

Are you looking for a credible and well capable institution to collaborate with? Look no further. ISSER provides a one-stop shop for teaching, research and advocacy on socio-economic development issues. We look forward to collaborating with you in areas of research, teaching and advocacy now or in the immediate future.

Thank you/ Merci Beaucoup
