PhD Student

Innocent Muhwezi is a Ugandan doctoral researcher at the University of Ghana, affiliated with the Institute of Statistical, Social and Economic Research (ISSER). He is a DAAD Scholar under theIn-Country/In-Region (ICIN) Scholarship Programme for Sub-Saharan Africa. His research focuses on Education for Sustainable Development (ESD), climate governance, and competence-based curriculum reforms across Sub-Saharan Africa. His doctoral study examines the contribution of Competence-Based Curriculum (CBC) implementation approaches in Entrepreneurship Education to climate change mitigation and sustainable development in Uganda. Innocent holds a Master of Education in Research from Moi University, awarded under the DAAD-funded CERM-ESA programme, and a Bachelor of Education from Kyambogo University. His scholarly work spans climate justice, gender and climate finance, curriculum implementation, and sustainability governance. He has published in peer-reviewed journals including Discover Environment and the Journal of Management and Business Education. Beyond his doctoral studies, Innocent serves as a Volunteer Digital Research Colloquium Coordinator at Leipzig University and as a Volunteer Digital Facilitator under the DAAD DIGI-FACE project. He is a 2024/2025 Climate Justice Africa Youth Training Fellowship alumnus and winner of the 2025 Climate Justice Essay Competition. His broader academic interests lie in strengthening the link between education systems, governance reforms, and climate resilience to advance equitable and sustainable development across Africa.
