Prof. Augustine Fosu, Prof. Robert Osei appointed members of Fiscal Council

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has inaugurated a seven-member Presidential Fiscal Responsibility Advisory Council which includes Prof. Augustin Fosu and Prof. Robert Osei, of the Institute of Social, Statistical and Economic Research, University of Ghana. Other Council members are Dr. Paul Acquah, former Governor of the Bank of Ghana as the chair, Mr. Abdallah Ali-Nakyea, Prof. Eugena Amporful, Dr. Nii Noi Ashong and Dr. Nii Kwaku Sowa. The ceremony was held at the Jubilee House on Wednesday, 13th February, 2019. President Akufo-Addo, by an Executive Instrument, established the Fiscal Council and Financial Stability Council in December 2018 to monitor and advise the President on issues of public financial management. The Fiscal Advisory Council will also, amongst other responsibilities, develop and recommend policies for the maintenance of prudent and sustainable levels of public debt, ensuring that fiscal balance is maintained at a sustainable level and the management of fiscal risks, to achieve efficiency, effectiveness and value for money in public expenditure. The President urged the Council to lend their expertise in the discharge of their duties and advise him appropriately. He also wished them the best of luck and God’s guidance as they carefully work with their knowledge and accomplishments since the task ahead of them is a challenging one. Dr. Acquah, on behalf of the council, expressed their gratitude to the President for the honor to serve the country, and said they would bring the best of their knowledge to bear on their work to justify the confidence reposed in them.
