At the Institute of Statistical, Social, and Economic Research (ISSER), our work is driven by a commitment to advancing knowledge and providing evidence-based insights for policy formulation and implementation. Research at ISSER is organized into three key divisions: the Economics Division, Social Division, and Statistics and Survey Division. Each division specializes in a distinct area of research, yet they all work in synergy to address the multifaceted challenges of national development and global progress. Together, these divisions contribute to ISSER's mission of promoting socio-economic development of Ghana in particular and Africa in general, thus reducing inequality, and fostering inclusive growth through high-quality, impactful research. Some specific activities in the various divisions are as follows:

The Economics Division focuses on conducting cutting-edge research to understand and address the pressing economic challenges facing Ghana, Africa, and the global community. The division’s work encompasses a wide range of topics, including macroeconomic policy, international trade, public finance, poverty and inequality, and labor economics. Through rigorous data analysis and policy-oriented studies, we aim to provide evidence-based insights that inform both governmental and private-sector decision-making, contributing to sustainable economic growth and development. The division is actively involved in collaborative research projects with international organizations, ensuring our work remains globally relevant and locally impactful..

The Social Division is dedicated to exploring the social dynamics that shape human development, well-being, and societal progress. Our research delves into critical issues such as education, health, gender, governance, and social protection. By using both qualitative and quantitative approaches, we provide comprehensive insights into how social policies impact various aspects of life, particularly for marginalized groups. The division seeks to inform the design and implementation of social policies that promote inclusive development, social justice, and the reduction of inequalities. We engage with communities, stakeholders, and governmental bodies to ensure that our research has a practical and lasting impact.

The Statistics and Survey Division specializes in the collection, analysis, and interpretation of data to support research across the institute. This division is at the forefront of designing and conducting large-scale surveys, applying advanced statistical methodologies to generate accurate and reliable data. Our work underpins the research efforts of the Economics and Social Divisions, providing critical insights through data-driven analysis. Additionally, we develop innovative tools for data visualization and dissemination, ensuring that our findings are accessible to a broad audience, including policymakers, researchers, and the public. The division also offers technical assistance and training in survey design, data analysis, and statistical modeling.
