The Director and staff cut the ribbon to launch the digital centre, a new facility designed to strengthen ISSER’s research, training, and learning capabilities.
ISSER has launched a digital centre, a 60-seater facility equipped with high-performance computers and cutting-edge multimedia technology. This new addition is designed to strengthen ISSER’s research, training, and learning capabilities, reinforcing its position as a leading research institution.
“The digital centre aligns with the Vice Chancellor’s vision to improve teaching and learning across the University of Ghana. It represents ISSER’s continued efforts to enhance research and academic infrastructure to better serve students, professionals, and researchers,” said Prof. Peter Quartey, Director of ISSER, during the launch event.
The launch of the digital centre coincided with the commencement of ISSER’s 2024 Data Management and Analysis Short Course, a two-week programme that provides professional training in advanced data management techniques. Course participants joined ISSER faculty and staff in celebrating the inauguration of the digital centre.
In welcoming the participants, Prof. Quartey emphasized the crucial role of data in driving research and informed policy formulation. He reiterated ISSER’s commitment to equipping middle and senior-level professionals from academia, government agencies, and other institutions with essential technical skills through its short courses.
Dr. Cynthia Addoquaye Tagoe, the Short Courses Programme Coordinator, urged participants to fully utilize the new facility, along with the expertise of facilitators and faculty members, to sharpen their data management skills and expand their professional networks.
The Data Management and Analysis Short Course is one of four annual programmes offered by ISSER. This year’s course saw increased participation from notable organisations including the Ghana Prisons Service, Ghana Revenue Authority, Ghana Civil Aviation Training Academy, SSNIT, Ghana Health Service, Mastercard Foundation, SIC Life Insurance Limited, Volta River Authority, Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, Solidaridad West Africa, and Sabre Education.
The commissioning of the digital centre on 16 September marks a significant milestone in ISSER’s mission to enhance facilities and resources for world-class research and learning. Aligned with the University of Ghana’s strategic vision of academic excellence, this new addition reinforces ISSER’s pivotal role in advancing higher education and professional development in Ghana and beyond.
