The annual collaboration workshop of the Ghanaian-German Centre for Development Studies (DAAD) was held on 30 November 2021 at the ISSER conference facility. The event brought together programme collaborators, Ph.D. supervisors and lecturers, students, and alumni to reflect on the DAAD programme, exchange ideas, and plan for the future.

Prof Peter Quartey, Director of ISSER welcomed participants and wished them successful deliberations. The workshop heard statements from a rich diversity of special guests. These included a keynote address by Prof Howard White, Executive Director, Campbell Collaboration, United Kingdom, and presentations by Dr. David Ameyaw, President, International Centre for Evaluation and Development (ICED) and Adjunct Scholar, ISSER; and Dr. Andrew Osei Asibey, Technical Advisor, Monitoring and Evaluation Secretariat, Office of the President, Ghana.

Dr. Ama Pokuaa Fenny, Ph.D. Coordinator, ISSER also gave brief remarks, alongside Prof. George Owusu, Dean, School of Social Sciences, University of Ghana (UG), Prof. Dorcas Osei-Sarfo, Vice Dean, School of Graduate Studies, UG (representing Prof. Robert Darko Osei, Dean, School of Graduate Studies, UG), and Mr. Felix Barnes, Programme Officer, DAAD Information Centre (IC), Accra (representing Ms. Lena Leumer, DAAD IC).

The discussion session saw participants, notably Ph.D. supervisors and lecturers, alumni, and students, exchange information and best practices on key aspects of the DAAD programme.

The annual workshop, which has been held every year since the start of the DAAD programme at ISSER, provides an important avenue for stakeholders to exchange lessons and ideas, make inclusive decisions, and network.

The DAAD-ISSER collaboration has since its inception in 2009 provided scholarships to enable the training in development studies at the Ph.D. level of young and dynamic talents.
