The Institute of Statistical, Social and Economic Research (ISSER) participated in this year’s Day of Scientific Renaissance of Africa (DSRA) celebrations, observed by the University of Ghana community under the theme: “Harnessing Socio-Economic Opportunities and Innovation for Climate Sustainability: A Scientific and Intellectual Property Perspective.”

ISSER’s contributions included a special seminar, participation in two exhibitions, and representation at a high-level panel discussion. These activities provided an excellent platform to spotlight the Institute’s impactful work in climate-focused research, evidence-based policy engagement, and public outreach.

This photo story highlights key moments from ISSER’s participation in DSRA 2025:

20 June 2025 – College of Humanities Exhibition of Scholarly Works

ISSER’S exhibitions stand showcased scholarly works and research initiatives highlighting it contributions to climate action and sustainable development.

ISSER took part in the College-level exhibition held at the foyer of the Cedi Conference Centre, where it showcased a range of publications, research outputs, and institutional initiatives. The stand offered visitors insight into ISSER’s contributions to climate action, sustainable development, and academic excellence.

24 June 2025 – ISSER Seminar Series Special Edition

The Institute hosted a timely seminar featuring Dr, Richard Ayisi, Senior Lecturer at the Department of Economics, University of Ghana who presented on “Assessing the Economy-Wide Impact of Ghana’s National Adaptation Plan.” It was an engaging session that deepened participants’ understanding of how adaptation strategies impact Ghana’s economy and sparked meaningful dialogue on inclusive, climate-resilient development.

27 June 2025 – University-Wide Exhibition and High-Level Panel Discussion

Curious minds gathered at the ISSER booth, exploring our work during the University-wide exhibition.

The DSRA 2025 celebrations culminated with two simultaneous events organised by the University’s Research and Innovation Directorate (RID) -- a University-wide Exhibition and a High-Level Panel Discussion on “Transforming Ideas into Impact: The Role of IP in Climate Sustainability Innovations.” ISSER featured prominently at both events. The Institute welcomed visitors to its exhibition stand, highlighting research and innovations that support climate sustainability. On the panel, Prof. Simon Bawakyillenuo represented ISSER, sharing insights on how research and intellectual property can support the scaling of innovations for development impact.

Beyond exhibiting scholarly works, the exhibition booths offered a relaxed space for networking with stakeholders within and beyond the University.
