This initiative uses a combination of tools (Computable General Equilibrium, Partial Equilibrium, Geographic Information Systems and Deep Dives) to analyse agricultural value chains to determine their potential for driving economic growth, job creation, poverty reduction, and dietary diversity.
These tools support evidence-based policymaking through ranking, identification of value chain weaknesses and the policy levers that will deliver the most efficient impacts when applied. Funded by the Gates Foundation, it involves ISSER, the Bureau for Food and Agricultural Policy (BFAP), the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI), and the Modelling Services Center (MSC) of the African Network of Agricultural Policy Research Institutes (ANAPRI).
