Human capital development -- improving resources and capabilities-- is the core mandate of nation-states. Socio-economic transformation, which is the process of improving/increasing the output of a people in different endeavours, is literally a lever for promoting human capital development. At ISSER, we concern ourselves with research into the following aspects of human capital development—the economy, political economy, health, education, environment, and energy. The rest include agriculture, governance, social relations, housing and urbanization, water and sanitation, and work and employment. ISSER will continue to sharpen its focus both as a critical human capital development agency and a leading socio-economic hub for national and international development and socio-economic transformation.
