The Institute of Statistical, Social and Economic Research (ISSER) delivered a short course in Research Methods and Data Analysis for staff of the Gambia Revenue Authority. Tailored to align with the operational and analytical needs of the officers, the course covered key topics in qualitative and quantitative research methods, with strong emphasis on real-world relevance to their work.

Over the two weeks, faculty with diverse expertise facilitated interactive sessions on research design, data collection, sampling procedures and techniques, statistical analysis, and report writing, among others. The programme was structured to build from foundational concepts to applied practice, equipping participants to directly translate what they learned into their day-to-day work.

Held from 9 to 20 February at ISSER, the training brought together eight officials from the Technical Services, Planning and Research, Project Management, Compliance, Tax and Customs units of the GRA.

Speaking on behalf of the team, Mr. Yahya Manneh, Director of the Technical Services, praised the high quality of the programme and the professionalism of the faculty. He noted that the training was directly relevant to the Authority's mandate and would strengthen data-driven decision-making within the GRA. He also commended ISSER for the warm reception and the smooth organisation of the programme throughout.

He commended participants for their active engagement and expressed confidence that the knowledge gained would translate into measurable impact, affirming ISSER's commitment to delivering practical, high-quality training that strengthens institutions across the region.
