ISSER, MoFA Pledge to Strengthen Collaboration

Based on an MoU signed between ISSER and the Ministry of Agriculture (MoFA) in October 2017, and as part of the Agricultural Policy Support Project (APSP), ISSER was tasked to build the capacity of 20 senior officials of the Policy Planning and Budget Directorate (PPBD) division of MoFA in Policy Briefing. Four out of the twenty were selected to undergo the training in Policy Brief writing. On Wednesday 27th June 2018 the four made presentations. The presentations were by Mr. Faisal Munkaila, Senior Agricultural Economist, on the topic: Performance Assessment of the 1st Generation NAIP-METASIP 1 & 2; Mr. Charles Ayuboro Adama, Agricultural Economist, on “Planting for Food and Jobs: 2017 Status Report for Fertilizer and Seed Components;” Mr. Emmanuel Adotey-Addo, Agricultural Economist, on “Ghana Agricultural Sector Expenditure trends: Assessment of Expenditure as Against Growth Rate (Malabo Target)”; and Mr. Shaibu Mustapha, Agricultural Economist, on “Allocation to Ministry of Food and Agriculture I 2018 National Budget: Trends and Issues.” Speaking at the end of the presentations, Prof Felix Asante, Director of ISSER, and Mr. Daniel Ohemeng-Boateng, Director of MoFA, took turns to express the need to deepen the collaboration based on the positive outcome of the training programme. Representing the APSP, Mr. Walter Nunez-Rodriguez and the Director of Crops at MoFA, Mr. Seth Osei-Akoto, expressed satisfaction with the presenters and the coaching by ISSER.
