ISSER Director, Prof. Robert Darko Osei, speaking to reporters after the engagement.

The Institute of Statistical, Social and Economic Research (ISSER) held a media engagement session on the 2026 Budget Statement, providing expert, evidence-based analysis and actionable recommendations on the Government's fiscal performance. Organised as part of ISSER's longstanding commitment to enhancing public understanding of national economic policy, the session afforded an open and independent platform for the Institute to contribute to ongoing discourse on the 2026 Budget presented to Parliament on 13 November 2025.

The Director of the Institute, Prof. Robert Darko Osei, led the session with a comprehensive presentation synthesising key insights and assessments from ISSER's experts across both the Economics and Social Divisions. His presentation highlighted fiscal trends, policy implications, and priority areas requiring attention to strengthen Ghana's fiscal and socioeconomic outcomes. A synthesis of the presentation was made available to participants to support accurate and comprehensive reporting.

The session featured exchanges between ISSER faculty and journalists. Faculty members, representing various research specialisations, provided explanations, contextual analyses, and practical recommendations to guide public understanding of the budget's implications.

The engagement continues ISSER's tradition of fostering open, constructive dialogue with the media, recognising journalists as essential partners in shaping accurate, balanced public discourse on economic policy. Through these collaborations, ISSER reaffirms its commitment to supporting the media with data-driven insights that inform national conversations on development, transparency, and accountability.

Held on Wednesday, 19 November 2025 at the ISSER Conference Centre, the engagement drew journalists from some of Ghana's most credible and widely trusted media outlets—further underscoring ISSER’s role as a leading source of independent economic analysis.

ISSER extends its appreciation to all participating journalists and looks forward to future collaborations aimed at promoting economic literacy in Ghana.
