Anita Bans-Akutey is an academic, researcher, and higher education practitioner with a multidisciplinary background spanning engineering, business, and development studies. Since 2018, she has been actively engaged in university teaching, following over eleven years of professional experience in management roles across the construction and mining support, telecommunications, and oil and gas sectors. This blend of industry and academic experience informs her practical and research-driven approach to teaching and scholarship.
She holds a PhD in Business from Unicaf University in Zambia, an MBA in Entrepreneurship and Leadership Management from Amity University, an MSc in Development Management, and a BSc in Mechanical Engineering from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology. She is currently a doctoral candidate in Development Studies at the Institute of Statistical, Social and Economic Research, University of Ghana.
Anita serves as a Lecturer at BlueCrest College and an Adjunct Lecturer at Accra Technical University. She has taught courses in entrepreneurship, operations management, business ethics, e-business, marketing, and strategic management over the period of service, and supervises undergraduate research projects. She has also held several academic leadership roles, including Acting Head of the Business Department and Head of the Teaching and Learning Centre at BlueCrest College.
Her research focuses on the intersection of technology, leadership, entrepreneurship, and development. She has published on digital transformation, organizational performance, and entrepreneurial intention. Her work reflects a strong commitment to studies that advance policy dialogue, strengthen institutional practice, and contribute to inclusive and sustainable development in Ghana and beyond.
