The Institute of Statistical, Social and Economic Research (ISSER) in collaboration with Zambia Institute for Policy Analysis and Research (ZIPAR) and University College of London (UCL) are about to embark on a project that requires a DILIGENT RESEARCH ASSISTANT for a duration of not less than one-year. The project seeks to unearth pathways that could be sine qua non for a clean and resilient socio-economic recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic in Ghana and Zambia.
The successful applicant will undertake several tasks at different stages of this project as well as support the delivery of another project’s milestones at ISSER. These include review of policy and academic literature, development of research instruments (qualitative and quantitative), gathering of data, rigorous analysis of data, writing of academic reports and journal papers, preparation of PowerPoint presentations, writing of blogs, production of stakeholders’ meetings, etc.
To apply for this position, you will need to have a very good first degree and an MPhil or MA/MSc in a field of study relevant to the project. We are looking for a candidate with proven knowledge and a track record in several of the following areas: economic and energy policy analysis; both qualitative and quantitative research methods and techniques; climate change; low carbon economy; economic modelling.
Added to the above, the successful applicant will be someone who has excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to facilitate stakeholder engagements; unassuming and willing to learn; able to manage research and other competing demands of life by meeting deadlines. Moreover, he/she should be able to build contacts and participate actively in both internal and external networks for the exchange of information and collaboration.
