The Institute of Statistical, Social and Economic Research (ISSER) has partnered with the University of Cape Town in South Africa and the University of Nairobi in Kenya to form the African Research Universities Alliance Centre of Excellence for Inequality Research (ARUA-ACEIR). ARUA-ACEIR’s goal is to contribute to a better understanding of inequality and how they can be overcome from a multi- and inter- disciplinary perspective. The ARUA-ACEIR has been in operation since 2018.
Over the next 12 months, two of the projects that ARUA-ACEIR will seek to undertake, among others, are as follows:
- Develop a Data Centre to bring together all the relevant data on poverty and inequality in Ghana, harmonize it, and make same available for researchers.
- The ARUA-ACEIR node at the ISSER in the University of Ghana, Legon, will produce a benefit incidence paper by 30 September 2021 and train selected researchers in the CEQ method
ISSER intends to hire 2 people to work with the Data Centre and on the CEQ exercise respectively for a period of 12 months.
