M.A. IN DEVELOPMENT STUDIES
The Institute of Statistical, Social and Economic Research (ISSER), University of Ghana, Legon, runs an MA/MPhil. in Development Studies Programme. The programmes are designed to provide policymakers with effective tools and techniques for careful, comprehensive, and skillful analysis of the socio-economic and political environment, in order to arrive at a more accurate analysis of constraints on development, and subsequently direct policy-making in a manner that helps remove those constraints.
Applications are hereby invited from qualified persons for a 12/24 months full-time MA/MPhil. in Development Studies Programme.
Entry requirements:
MA Programme:
- A good first degree (at least Second Class Lower Division) in the Humanities from University of Ghana or any recognized/accredited University;
- One year working experience in any development planning-related institution; and
- Applicants are required to go through an interview to be admitted on the programme.
MPhil. Programme
- Applicants must have successfully completed the MA Programme with at least an average grade of B+ and must display adequate research experience or potential.
- Applicants are required to go through an interview to be admitted on the programme.
PH.D. IN DEVELOPMENT STUDIES
The Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) programme in Development Studies aims to address developmental challenges confronting Ghana and many other African countries in a topical fashion. It is designed to provide academic and methodological training at the highest level to future policymakers and development practitioners as well as fresh university graduates from Ghana and other African countries.
Applications are hereby invited from qualified persons for a 4-year full-time Ph.D. in Development Studies Programme.
Entry requirements:
- First degree (at least Second Class Lower Division);
- A relevant Masters’ (MA/MSc/MPhil.) degree in the Social Sciences/Humanities in the Social Sciences/Humanities from the University of Ghana or any recognized/accredited University; and
- Shortlisted applicants are required to go through an interview to be admitted to the programme.
