ISSER has successfully completed the 2024 round of short courses, equipping over 100 participants with skills in proposal writing, research methods, data management and analysis, report writing, project cycle management and monitoring and evaluation.  A brief ceremony held on 11 October 2024 to close the Project Cycle Management Course marked the conclusion of another impactful training programme aimed at strengthening the capabilities of professionals, graduate students, and others from diverse fields.

In addition to the regular courses, ISSER also delivered a tailored training on Data Management and Analysis for 38 staff and faculty members at the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre (KAIPTC) earlier in the year, further demonstrating its commitment to advancing research skills across sectors.

“Continuous learning is essential for both personal and organisational growth. The Short Courses Programme serves as a valuable resource for ISSER to foster this development, connecting participants with seasoned facilitators and equipping them with practical skills that will enhance their careers and contribute meaningfully to their fields," Prof. Peter Quartey, the Director of ISSER remarked at the conclusion of the 2024 round of courses.

Participants found value in the programme, not only in terms of acquiring new skills but also in the rich interactions and support they received from peers and facilitators alike. This collaborative and enriching environment was a key highlight for many attendees.

“This has been an incredible learning experience. Over the past two weeks, I have enjoyed a journey filled with joy, laughter, and camaraderie. I especially valued the interactions with both my colleagues and the facilitators," said Mr. Christian Lilongwe, speaking on behalf of his fellow participants in the Project Cycle Management course.

"The facilitators demonstrated exceptional patience in breaking down complex concepts, ensuring that everyone fully grasped the lessons," he added, echoing the sentiments shared by many participants across the four courses.

Following the annual calendar, the 2024 programme began in April with the Executive Leadership Programme on Monitoring and Evaluation in Public and Private Sectors (M&E) Course and continued from September to October with three additional two-week courses: Research Methodology and Report Writing, Data Management and Analysis, and Project Cycle Management. Across all courses, participants gained practical knowledge to apply directly to their professional and academic work, reinforcing ISSER’s role as a leader in research training and capacity building.
